The temperature sensing by default for Airtronic heaters is referenced at the heater inlet. The ramp on the timer will regulate heat output but only via referencing the inlet temperature air at the heater.   In many applications this is perfectly adequate, but there are some instances where it can be preferable to install an additional remote temp sensor. The situations most likely to result in this requirement are When you have chosen to draw outside/fresh air  into the heater (rather than re-circulating cabin air) If the heater is mounted in a different space/room/cabin ? then the heater inlet air temperature will bear little relevance to the room space in which you wish to regulate temperature.
